3 Things to Check in Your Medicare Plan Before December 7

Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 15 to December 7. It’s your chance to change your Medicare Advantage or Part D drug plan for next year. Changes start January 1.

Plans change every year, even if you don’t. Here are 3 things to check:

1. Your doctors and hospitals

Networks can change. Make sure your doctors, specialists and preferred hospital are still in your plan’s network for next year.

2. Your prescriptions

Check that each of your drugs is still covered, and at what cost. A drug can move to a different tier or be dropped from the list. Your pharmacy matters too.

3. Your total costs, not just the premium

A $0 premium isn’t always the cheapest plan. Compare the deductible, copays and the yearly out-of-pocket maximum.

Tip: read the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) your plan mailed you in September. It lists what changes next year.
